The Pixel 3 also used to do something similar with their own set of live wallpapers. They should bring them back to make the AOD nicer like the iPhone 14 pros kinda did and introduce new ones, they were so simplistic and just plain cool.

I think most manufacturers are doing the same. There is little effort on wallpapers and themes, as they know users will change them but like you're saying it's not that simple as not everyone wants to bother.

They really be having some of the lamest wallpapers nowadays. Just about every single one is objectively bad. Only good ones are the fkin color wallpaper they added in OneUI 5 which is sad that simple colors are better than actual wallpapers.

Of course processing power is increasing and other generic improvements are there but the S9 series leaped frogged in almost every aspect.
