check out pathfinder, you can create some insane class builds with a bit of home brew mix. My paladin learns new fire spells with every new tail he gains that he can cast once a day each on top of being able to spontaneously cast a healing spell of the same level instead.

yes, people use genuinely D&DBeyond for everything because paper and pen for a game is pretty wasteful, ESPECIALLY when you're playing old school
