Shame there isn’t a window front to Workbench.

Watching my mates icons slowly appear as they load from floppy disk on Workbench, but have mine appear instantly on GEM Desktop. ❤️

You do know we could change the ST’s GEM Desktop’s color. I switched mine to blue. However, it wasn’t a garish blue whether it was in Low or Medium Res. We could’ve definitely used that multi-desktop screen trick though.

My friend had an Amiga when we were kids. I was so jelly. Thank god for FS-UAE, I can finally experience all this myself. 😁

Ubuntu Mate has a theme that emulates this one nicely with the red arrow, striped window borders and the incomprehensible window buttons. It's cute.

Wow. That’s a memory jogger! Loved the Amiga. It was still one of the best OSes and most responsive interactive systems ever.

I do, but 3.1’s colours are so much easier on the eye

Not really Kickstart 1.3 - I prefer the more natural look of Kickstart 3.1 and its colour scheme, much easier on the eyes

I started on WB1.2 and yes it's garish..but for nostalgic reasons it's the one that gets my pulse and emotions racing!🤗

They purposely picked that color scheme to make it high contrast for visually impaired users.

I'm stretching my (unreliable) memory here but at the time it was said that the strong contrast between blue and orange was easier on the human eye (and supposedly less of a problem for the most common type of colour blindness).

Beautiful. And when combined with some of the program and game icons of the time (DPaint, F/A-18 Interceptor)… just brilliant.

I never liked the pre 2.0 icons and colours.

F/A 18 was crazy. First flight and you have to do a carrier landing.

We used to spend hours on ‘Say’ as kids! Easily entertained clearly!
